Two out-of-date Beijing subway trains arrived in China's quake-hit Sichuan Province on Wednesday. They will serve as makeshift winter housing for locals, according to a newspaper report released Thursday.

Beijing, Nov 27: Chinese authorities have despatched trains no longer in use to the quake-hit Sichuan province in the southwest as temporary winter shelters for those rendered homeless by the devastating May 12 earthquake, according to Beijing Youth Daily Thursday.

The Connecticut Trolley Museum, 58 North Road, East Windsor, is holding its Winterfest celebration through Dec. 28. Take a trolley ride under the stars through a tunnel of lights. The Visitor’s Center will be transformed into a Winter Wonderland complete with model trains.

Santa will be taking the train from the North Pole to Baltimore and arriving at the B and O Railroad Museum’s famed 1884 Baldwin Roundhouse on Friday at 10:30 a.m. to kick off this year’s Holiday Festival of Trains and will greet visitors throughout the day.

The Barron Arts Center, 582 Rahway Ave., Woodbridge, will hold its annual holiday exhibition of model trains, curated by Colonia resident Michael Gelesky, Dec. 1-28. The exhibition will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 2-4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The center will be closed on Christmas Day. Admission is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.
