The public is invited to visit the Missouri Valley Model Railroad Club’s Open House to be held on Saturday, Nov. 29. This event will be held at the club’s facilities located in the basement of the old J C Penney building located at Third and Cedar streets on the southeast corner. The open house will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4:00 p.m.

HCM CITY — Sixty-eight engineers are being trained to work at the Dung Quat oil refinery when it is put into operation in the next few months. The engineers, who were selected from a pool of more than 1,046 for the course, are all proficient in English.

KINGMAN — In the years following his retirement, local resident Dave Bacon kept his mind and body limber by restoring vintage cars. The gleaming 1928 Studebaker sitting in his garage and the plethora of awards adorning his walls are a testament to the effort the 70-year old ex-mechanic put into his hobby.
