More than 30 model train vendors packed the St. Bridget's School gym for a swap and sell meet on Saturday afternoon. This was the 20th year for the event, which is put on by Hobart model railroad enthusiast Ron Jackson. The Greater Abington Township Society of Model Engineers, or GATSME, has built what it calls the largest club layout in Southeastern Pennsylvania: It's HO-scale railroad is nearly the size of a tennis court. With a pre-Christmas open house scheduled for next weekend, visitors may be getting their last look at this miniature world frozen in 1953.

 Amid tomten, ljustrums and julboks, Lionel sticks out in Bishop Hill’s Colony Steeple building. That’s Lionel as in model train. Tomte is the mythological protective elf; ljustrum is the traditional Swedish candelabra; and julbok is the Swedish yule goat, often represented as a straw figure.
