Homeless Dropouts From High School Lured by For-Profit Colleges

April 30 (Bloomberg) -- Benson Rollins wants a college degree. The unemployed high school dropout who attends Alcoholics Anonymous and has been homeless for 10 months is being courted by the University of Phoenix . Two of its recruiters got themselves invited to a Cleveland shelter last October and pitched the advantages of going to the countrys largest for-profit college to 70 destitute men.

While post offices across the country are closing or cutting staff and service hours, Lindenhurst's longtime contract postal unit in Village Hall, 2301 E. Sand Lake Road, could be considered a model for the future. In the mid-1980s, former Mayor Robert Ratch pushed for a post office and a separate ZIP code for Lindenhurst.

Percentage turnout at British General Elections has dropped sharply since the 1950s, when it was over 80, its lowest since 1918 (when some voters were still at war and the registers were terrible). It has barely recovered, and nobody expects it to be enormous this time.
