Farmpark in Kirtland presents "Railroads in the Parks" Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Highlights include model trains, a railroad-themed play area, activities, historical exhibits and more. BRIDGETON — “An Exhibition of Illustrations for Aurora Model Kits and Others” opens with a reception on Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Frank Burton and Sons, located at 333 W. Broad St., and runs through July 10.

Lake Metroparks Farmpark's to host annual Railroads in the Parks event

The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland. Farmpark admission is $4 for ages 2 to 11, $5 for ages 60 and over and $6 for ages 12 to 59. Children younger than 2 are free.

New look DeQuincy museum ready to host festival

“The museum is a reflection of the history of DeQuincy from its beginnings in 1897 and its growth from the railroads. The building itself is the most important one historically in DeQuincy. We are very proud of what we have done [with the updates],” said Gary Cooper, former DeQuincy mayor and current President of the DeQuincy Railroad Museum Board of Directors.

Ken Murphy had his hands full Saturday as he tried to keep his grandsons from touching all the model trains they saw — and there were plenty of them. Murphy and his daughter-in-law, Carolyn, brought the youngsters to the 17 th annual Carolina Coastal Railroad Show at the Shriners Sudan Temple.
