About 5,000 unionized Canadian Pacific railway workers went on strike just after midnight Wednesday after negotiators were unable to reach a contract agreement with the employer.

Lake Metroparks Farmpark's to host annual Railroads in the Parks event

The event is from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Lake Metroparks Farmpark, 8800 Euclid Chardon Road, Kirtland. Farmpark admission is $4 for ages 2 to 11, $5 for ages 60 and over and $6 for ages 12 to 59. Children younger than 2 are free.

New look DeQuincy museum ready to host festival

“The museum is a reflection of the history of DeQuincy from its beginnings in 1897 and its growth from the railroads. The building itself is the most important one historically in DeQuincy. Ken Murphy had his hands full Saturday as he tried to keep his grandsons from touching all the model trains they saw — and there were plenty of them. Murphy and his daughter-in-law, Carolyn, brought the youngsters to the 17 th annual Carolina Coastal Railroad Show at the Shriners Sudan Temple.
