China recalls 54 bullet trains

A Chinese state-owned bullet train manufacturer recalled 54 trains today following a July crash that killed 40 people. China North Locomotive and Rolling Stock Ltd (CNR) recalled model CRH380BL trains used on the Beijing-Shanghai line, which has suffered repeated delays blamed on equipment failures.

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - China's second-biggest train maker will recall 54 bullet trains used on the new showcase Beijing-Shanghai line for safety reasons, the firm said on Friday, dealing a fresh blow to the nation's scandal-plagued rail system.
