About 5,000 unionized Canadian Pacific railway workers went on strike just after midnight Wednesday after negotiators were unable to reach a contract agreement with the employer.

Trains collide in south India, killing 15

A passenger train rammed into a freight train before dawn Tuesday in southern India, killing at least 15 people in a fiery wreck, officials said.

Edward J. Cooper 74, formerly of Newburg

Edward “Joseph” Cooper, of Maplewood, passed away March 18, 2012, at the age of 74. Joe Cooper was born Dec. 16, 1937 in Newburg. Joe married Betty Lou Hance on June 20, 1958. Joe enjoyed his Model A car, model trains, his pet dog J.R., he also loved to socialize and joke with family and friends.
