Back by popular demand, the March Break CPR Model Train Exhibit and Historic Blacksmithing is returning to the Champlain Trail Museum From Sunday, March 13 to Saturday March 19, the Valley Lines Model Train Club will be presenting a CPR Model Train Exhibit in the Founders Hall of the Champlain

There is big news for owners of the area's smallest trains. After a few months of homelessness, the Belleville Model Railroad Club is moving to the Bay View Mall.

The Belleville Model Railroad Club is homeless but members say they're hopeful a new clubhouse can be established. "We're optimistic but we're afraid that if we don't get something soon that we're going to start falling apart," vice-president Paul Martel said.

Despite heroic rescue efforts by neighbours and firefighters, a 56-year-old Seeleys Bay man died in a weekend house fire on the village's main street. Clifford Smith was alone at 167 Main St. when neighbours reported smoke billowing out of the bungalow at around 4 p.m.

It is a hobby which, once you start to go down that track, never releases its hold on you. Collecting and running model trains has been a pastime which has been around as long as there have been railways operating, and a local club has been involved in it for years.

The Niagara Railway Museum has an ever-expanding collection of railway artifacts. To see its steam locomotive, however, you have to travel to Orillia. Viewing another locomotive involves a trip to Capreol, near Sudbury.
