For the first time in about half a century, trains will come chugging down the iron rails in West Pasco. These trains, however, will clickety-clack down the tracks of elaborate model railroad displays the Sundance Central group has created at the new Suncoast Center for Fine Scale Modeling.

A Paso Fino parade and show highlighted the list of new events this year at the 36th annual Pioneer Days Festival, which was held Saturday through Monday at the Pioneer Florida Museum and Village.

Central Pasco & Gulf Railroad members played host to the four-day meeting of the railroad-minded last week. The hobbyists took turns riding the rails along the two-mile circuit through the woods of the county park, ending at the Dade City Station, the depot anchoring the small-scale layout.
