Ted Brown is a railroadin’ man. Model trains, that is. The retired Union Pacific Railroad engineer operated trains for 35 years but for the past five years has spent his time, lots of his time, recreating model trains, mostly streamliner locomotives.

Gary Thayer of the Nebraska Department of Roads painted a grim picture Tuesday of the future of Nebraskas roads. If more money isn't found to fund road repairs, the state's roads will deteriorate, Thayer said.

The announcement Aug. 31 by Prince Edward Hastings MP Daryl Kramp and VIA rail that Belleville would be receiving an investment of close to $7 million dollars for an improved and expanded train station was great news.

This summer five youths from 859 Crowsnest Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Cadets attended summer training centres in Penhold and Cold Lake, Alberta. Their training, travel, meals and accommodation were provided free.
