Ceremony marks launch of Portland to Brunswick rail upgrade

BRUNSWICK Surrounded by train enthusiasts, state and local politicians and Federal Rail Authority Administrator Joseph Szabo, Pan Am Railways workers Monday removed old railroad ties and began laying the first of 50 1,650-foot sections of rail along the tracks near Maine Street.

TriMet light-rail substation incorporates art, wind, sun (The Oregonian)

The substation for light rail near PSU will be able to generate electricity with solar and wind power and boasts unique architectural elements. The hope is that TriMet's south terminus will become a model for other cities interested in tapping renewable energy sources for public transportation projects.
