NEW DELHI: The Election Commission has granted permission to the Railways to run special trains for the coming festive season. It has allowed the running of special trains during the Durga Puja, Deepavali and Chhat festival and winter special trains.

On Aug. 21, for the first time in 75 years, Trolley Car No. 304 will run again on the railroad track she was built to patrol in the era of Al Capone and the Model T. Or at least on the mile or so of the track that now is operated by volunteers at the Fox River Trolley Museum in South Elgin.

Despite heroic rescue efforts by neighbours and firefighters, a 56-year-old Seeleys Bay man died in a weekend house fire on the village's main street. Clifford Smith was alone at 167 Main St. when neighbours reported smoke billowing out of the bungalow at around 4 p.m.
