Retired streetcars from worldwide get new duty on San Francisco’s colorful F Line

Caitlin Fitzsimmons One of the F Line's late-1940s streetcars is painted in the livery of the Los Angeles Railway Co., which used this type of streetcar from 1937 to 1963.The F trams should not be confused with the city's famous antique cable cars, which are crowded and tickets cost $5. The F is a regular commuter service, and your $2 transfer from the city's transit network is valid.

The slow economy in North Texas has finally kicked Dallas Area Rapid Transit right in the teeth. Its top executives said Tuesday that sharply reduced bus and rail services are almost certain, and plans to build a second downtown Dallas rail line and to complete the Orange Line to the airport are now in jeopardy.

PORTLAND, Ore. -- TriMet has proposed cutting free bus service in Fareless Square and on Monday opened the idea to public commenting. The agency would maintain free rail service via MAX trains and street cars. Bus routes would begin charging in the zone, spokesperson Mary Fetch said.
