Ted Brown is a railroadin’ man. Model trains, that is. The retired Union Pacific Railroad engineer operated trains for 35 years but for the past five years has spent his time, lots of his time, recreating model trains, mostly streamliner locomotives.

The Christmas spirit travelled on train to Belleville this weekend. Model trains chugging along loops of track through detailed town settings and plenty of collectibles and toys – it was a feast for the eyes and a delight for young and old, signalling the start of the holiday season.

There is big news for owners of the area's smallest trains. After a few months of homelessness, the Belleville Model Railroad Club is moving to the Bay View Mall.

The Belleville Model Railroad Club is homeless but members say they're hopeful a new clubhouse can be established. "We're optimistic but we're afraid that if we don't get something soon that we're going to start falling apart," vice-president Paul Martel said.

One of Australia's biggest country bands will get down and dirty at a Cookstown-area music festival this weekend. Jetty Road performs Saturday evening at the second-annual Railway Country and Bluegrass Festival at the Toronto North Cookstown KOA campground, south of Barrie.
