The Belleville Model Railroad Club is homeless but members say they're hopeful a new clubhouse can be established. "We're optimistic but we're afraid that if we don't get something soon that we're going to start falling apart," vice-president Paul Martel said.

One of Australia's biggest country bands will get down and dirty at a Cookstown-area music festival this weekend. Jetty Road performs Saturday evening at the second-annual Railway Country and Bluegrass Festival at the Toronto North Cookstown KOA campground, south of Barrie.

Gary Thayer of the Nebraska Department of Roads painted a grim picture Tuesday of the future of Nebraskas roads. If more money isn't found to fund road repairs, the state's roads will deteriorate, Thayer said.

The AFC West story of the week was a sad one. The passing of former Oakland Raiders great safety Jack Tatum got the respect it deserved. It was a shut-out winner. Tatum died this week at the age of 62. He was one of the most feared hitters in NFL history and he was a face of the swaggering Raiders in the 1970s. House fire claims life of area man

Despite heroic rescue efforts by neighbours and firefighters, a 56-year-old Seeleys Bay man died in a weekend house fire on the village's main street. Clifford Smith was alone at 167 Main Street when neighbours reported smoke billowing out of the bungalow at around 4 p.m.
