The Barron Arts Center is hosting their annual holiday exhibition of model trains. The exhibition runs from December 4-28, 2010. Exhibit hours are: Monday-Friday 11am-4pm; Saturday and Sunday 2pm-4pm.

Although he was a man of many hobbies, William Kay had a one-track mind when it came to model trains. At one time or another, the father of three dabbled in home wine-making, stained-glass art, golf, boating and duck hunting, but none could compete with his passion for his train sets.

ST. JOHNS -- When school opens Sept. 7, Ruth Wineman won't be at St. Johns Alternative Education, for the first time since 1984. Wineman retired June 30 after 25 years with the program.

Kids have always been a pain. But these days, they're also in pain. "It's an epidemic," warned Scott Bautch, a Wisconsin chiropractor specializing in occupational health. "By the age of 14, kids have the same rate of back pain that adults do." And Bautch thinks he's fingered the culprit.

The late Jim Thornbury collected a baby grand, chandeliers, model cars, horse-drawn vehicles, toy trains, even the Enquirer from April 10, 1841. How much is that first paper, and everything else, worth? South Auction Services will find out at his Turtlecreek Township farm.
